The Adamson Library is one of the premier independent genealogical libraries in the southeast. Our collection encompasses approximately 10,000 items of genealogical information for use on-site with books covering not only Augusta and surrounding areas but many other counties and states. We also maintain exclusive family files, loose papers, and special collections. Family Room - Our Family Room collection includes many published and unpublished family histories and genealogies. This room also houses Vertical Files containing family research papers, ancestral charts, Bible records, and Cemeteries records. Indices for many of our special collections are also available. Georgia Room - The Georgia Room contains extensive local and regional histories, church and cemetery records, organization records, and a wide variety of materials from Georgia and South Carolina as well as other southern states. East Coast Room - With extensive resources for Virginia and North Carolina, as well as the mid-Atlantic and New England, this area has a wealth of information on these researching their family history from the earliest colonial period. European and Military Room - This collection contains genealogical resources for Europe with sources for multiple immigration groups and migration trails. The room houses a collection of books on US military history. This is also where visitors will find educational, research, and methodology resources and a collection of maps and atlases. Special Collections - Some materials are available only by prior arrangement. Indices for these materials are available in the family room.
