In today's culture of shareable information at lightning speed, we need to adopt a mental evaluation process that allows us to assess the validity of the information being presented. While we are used to evaluating print sources for research value, evaluating online resources can be much trickier due to fine print, navigation, copyright, and viral habits. By implementing the CRAAP test, widely used in schools and universities, we can easily navigate the steps necessary to discover the Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose of the information being shared. This session will cover material found on websites, social media, genealogy databases, online family trees and current AI products. 
Cheri Daniels  MSLS: Author, speaker, librarian, archivist, genealogist, historian, educator, and host of the BloodRoot Podcast. Daniels is the current Local History and Genealogy Librarian for the Woodford County Public Library in Central Kentucky. She is also a regular writer for the Woodford Sun newspaper where she features genealogy and local history stories uncovered in the onsite collections. Spanning a career of over 30 years, Daniels has worked in various types of repositories – including local, state, and national libraries and archives. Among her previous roles she has served as Head of Library and Archives for the Kentucky Historical Society for over a decade, and three years as the Director of Library and Archives for the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution at their national headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.  While at the Kentucky Historical Society, she was also the Editor of their genealogy publication, Kentucky Ancestors Online (2013-2022), and a Producer/Research Coordinator for Kentucky Ancestors, the award-winning state-wide television program devoted to helping families break down their brick walls. Daniels is also Chair of the APG Southeastern Chapter’s Kentucky Committee, a TIGR Instructor (2025) and a contributing author to the book Genealogy and the Librarian (2018, McFarland). She has been speaking to various national genealogy/history audiences since 2012 (NGS, FGS, RootsTech, etc.) and was a guest expert on the TV show, Mysteries at the Museum. When she is not writing, researching, and speaking, she is producing and hosting her own podcast, to share stories from her own genealogy journey.
