Funeral Home Records

Blanchard Funeral Home, Thomson, GA
The Blanchard Funeral Home began operation in the early 1930’s and continued to operate into the 1970s.  Over the 40 year period that Blanchard was in business, they made arrangements for over 3000 persons, the earliest of which was born in 1840.
When someone wanted Blanchard to make arrangements for their loved one, Blanchard employees would collect personal information about the deceased and the type of arrangements that were requested.  The information was recorded on a Blanchard form (2 pages, front and back).  Click Here to view a sample of the forms.
In 2021, the Blanchard family deeded 3089 of these forms to Augusta Genealogical Society.  AGS has digitized, transcribed and indexed them.  In 2024, AGS published a book of this index in 2024 and it is available at the Adamson Library (call# F292. M13 V4D3 A48) during normal business hours or by appointment.  To purchase this book or to learn more about the book, Click Here
This book along with digital copies of the Blanchard forms may be viewed at the Augusta Genealogical Society (AGS) Adamson library on the Family Room Computer during normal business hours or by appointment.
The Index to the book is also available to current AGS members in the Members Area of this site.  It is 202 pages long and is an index of all 17,000+ names listed in the book.  This Index is NOT to be downloaded, copied or printed without prior written AGS approval.  Click here to take you to the Index.  Click here to join!
Copies of an individual form can be provided upon request. There is a token cost per page to cover handling fee, plus shipping cost. Please contact AGS for details.
