AGS Quarterly Program
Augusta Genealogical Society is pleased to present this program especially designed for the holidays. Ms. Thompson is the Registrar at the Augusta Museum of History. Although we don’t all live in a museum, the basic principles of handling and safekeeping our irreplaceable heirlooms is of interest to everyone, especially genealogists, who often are the keepers of their family’s treasures. Ms. Thompson will help explain how various kinds of artifacts should be evaluated, displayed, and stored. She will cover issues including pest infestation, temperature, humidity, light, and effect of using different types of storage containers. You will gain insight into how to better preserve your own precious artifacts so that they can be enjoyed now, and passed to the next generation.
Natalie Thompson is originally from Cuthbert, Georgia. She obtained a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia before going on to receive her M.A. in Museum Studies at the George Washington University. Previous to joining the Augusta Museum of History staff in 2019, Natalie worked for the National Park Service, most recently at the Springfield Armory National Historic Site in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The program will be presented virtually and registration is required.
