DUFFY - I am seeking information on my great, great, great grandparents Thomas
William DUFFY, Sr., and his wife, Johanna Tracy DUFFY. They, their
children, and Mary Sullivan, are listed in the 1850 census for the City of Augusta, Georgia. I understand that they immigrated from Ireland and arrived at the Port of Savannah. Tom's occupation is listed in the census as cooper. I
learned recently that he is buried at Magnolia cemetery. I would like very much
to know where in Ireland Tom Sr. and Johanna are from. Their son, Thomas
William DUFFY, Jr., served twice as a state representative from Jones County,
Georgia. Any information would be appreciated and I would very much like to
hear from the DUFFYs of Georgia.

December 3, 2005 at 9:16 p.m. (EST)USRY - Seeking information on the USRY line including my line which is traced back to Glascock/Warren counties in Georgia. Many USRY spellings exist today in Augusta and the surrounding area, and I'm just trying to piece the tree together for current and past cousins. I have information back from George J.F. USRY and Addie Olin PHILLIPS who were my gg-grand parents. I am also trying to find anything on his death which is non-existant after four years of trying. I found an article in the Augusta Chronicle talking about his burial in 1946 that was to be in an "USRY CEMETERY" 1 mile or so West of Gibson, Ga. I have not been able to find anyone who knows where this site is in Gibson. I thought about writing the churches in Gibson to have them read my query in assistance for help, thinking that someone might have recalled this event. Please help if you have any information.

There was another family in Augusta, PICQUET DE MELESSE, which had family members with similar names (e.g. Antoine, Auguste, etc) but at this time I do not beleive they were related as the latter family was from Rennes, Brittany, France. I do have some references to Ancestoring volumes but no access as I am in California. Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide.

5443E. 133rd. ST. S.,Muskogee, Oklahoma United States - Wednesday, January 05, 2005 at 20:07:34 (EST)Bob and Helen:
I was searching the August website for information on my Grandfather - John
David Fleming - and I was caught by your request for information on Samuel
Fleming or Helen Fleming Mahoney. Though I am not sure if my Grandfather is
related to Samuel, what has me interested is that my mom, Olive Fleming -
married my daddy William Hardee Mahoney. Very interesting that there is
another Fleming/Mahoney relationship out there in the same area that my
Grandfather lived.
I am knee deep in trying to trace the Mahoney's back to Ireland. I have
gone back to my Great Great Grandfather - James Mahoney - who was a
Methodist preacher in the Carolina's in the 1840's. Trying to find out
where he was from/born.
So though I have not gone far in researching the Fleming line, I plan to
someday. I know a distant cousin from Alabama, whom I believe was the
daughter of my Grandfather's brother - did some research in the past. Also
I believe she stated there was a "Fleming House" in Augusta?
Well, hello from Sarasota, if you have any information related to anyone,
please let me know,
Regards,
Paul Mahoney
